The client for this preliminary design approached us after seeing our Pegasus design. The boat was enlarged slightly and changes were made based on his requirements, such as the addition of a flybridge. The following two general arrangement options have been proposed.

Principal Dimensions
LOA 40-0"
LWL 38-11"
Beam 12-11"
Draft 5-0"
Displacement 26,500 lbs (1/2 load)

Design 2715 141 Trideck Motoryacht

Heres a preliminary design for a 141 trideck motoryacht. The yacht was to built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Power was to be supplied by twin Caterpillar 3508B engines rated at 825hp each for a top speed of 14 knots. Range was to be 6,000 nautical miles.

Here are the plans.

A couple of points about the arrangement. Please note the owners stateroom/suite located on the main deck forward and his private office which opens to the sea.

The actual stateroom is up a half-a-flight of stairs to bring the space up over the raised foredeck for unobstructed views through 180°.

Also note the tender garages that are accessed through the hull side, both port and starboard. This was necessitated by the lower lounge forward of the swim platform which contains some nice loose furniture, wet bar and day head.

Stylistically this boat is not my taste but was specifically what the client wished to have. I do think it had a lot of creative elements in terms of use of space.

Design 2679 Quad Deck Motoryacht

The design of this 4-deck behemoth was started in 2000. Shes a beast. Just look at the beam. The boat is designed with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure.

Extensive powering studies were undertaken which included a single screw option. The final power train selected was to be twin Caterpillar 3508B A-Rated diesel engines generating 1,000 hp each for a top speed of 14.8 knots.

Here is the general arrangement plan.

Sadly, the project was stopped when the clients were tragically killed in a boating accident.

Design 2573 Swiftships 105 Trideck Motoryacht

This preliminary design was commissioned by Swiftships of Morgan City, Louisiana in 1990. My assumption is that it was prepared for a client of theirs. The boat was designed to be constructed of fiberglass. The project was taken no further than what you see here and the associated naval architecture required to produce the hull form, calculate propulsion requirements, fuel needs and so forth.

It is extremely difficult to achieve a sleek looking trideck motoryacht at 105 without the boat looking very bulky. The result was reasonably attractive.

Here are the accommodations plans.

Principal Dimensions
LOA 105-0"
LWL 93-3"
Beam 24-9"
Draft 10-6"
Displacement (1/2 load) 253,400 lbs
Fuel Oil Capacity 6,000 gals
Fresh Water Capacity 1,000 gals
Propulsion Twin Detroit 16V149TI - 2,200 hp each @ 2,100 rpm

Cruise Speed 22 knots
Max Speed 25+ knots

43 Meter Trideck Motoryacht Preliminary Design

This seems to be a popular size as we have done a handful of proposals in this size range. This trideck motoryacht was designed in 2009. She is designed with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. The boat is a full displacement hull, powered by twin Caterpillar C32s.

Here are the general arrangements for upper and lower decks.

Design 1816 Chelsea 46 Motoryacht

I happened to stumble upon this design the other day and its one I had never seen before.  This 46 wooden raised pilothouse motoryacht was designed in 1964 for Packanack Marine Corporation of Newark, New Jersey.  Perhaps the company was named after the lake in New Jersey which bears the same name.

This little piece from Yachting magazine of 1966 shows a Chelsea Yacht and attributes it to Sparkman & Stephens but on closer inspection it does not look like the same design as shown here and I can see from the files that the 46 was the only boat designed for Packanack.

Here is the general arrangement and inboard profile.
